First Impressions:
Remember, when a buyer comes to look at your home, the first thing they
will see is your home's entrance! Make it look fresh and clean. Be sure
your lawn and landscaping is well manicured and trim looking. Be sure
the yard is free of refuse and leaves. If it has snowed, be certain the
ice and snow is removed from walks and steps.
Safety First: Ensure stairways and hallways are clear and clean
since this will avoid potential injuries around your home, as well as
avoiding distraction to the potential buyers.
Fresh Appeal: Faded paint and worn woodwork will reduce the
appeal of your home. Why try to tell a buyer how your home could look
when you can show them with a reasonable amount of effort? A quicker
sale at a higher price will result with some minor redecoration. Invest
in wallpaper or fresh paint in the kitchen or bathroom. It will pay off
in the end.
Fix The Leaks: Since leaky faucets discolour sinks and tubs it
may suggests to the buyer that the plumbing may be faulty or worn out.
It may only require a new O ring or washer to fix the problem.
Little Things Could Mean the Difference: Take a few minutes to
check your doors and handles to ensure they are secure and free from
sticking. Same with your windows and cabinet drawers. Try and repair any
minor flaws since they do detract from your home's value.
Storage Areas: Present your attic, basement, utility space and
crawl spaces by ensuring all unnecessary articles are removed. A coat of
light coloured paint can do wonders if your basement appears dark and
dreary.
Closets: Having them neat and well organized will show that your home
has ample closet space.
Bathrooms Sell A Home: Make those rooms shine with pride. Replace
any damaged or discoloured caulking in the bathtubs and showers, and be
sure that the towels and area rugs are neat and bright.
Bright and Fresh Bedrooms: Make those rooms bright and cheerful.
Remove any excess furniture and be sure and use attractive and colourful
bedspreads. Open the curtains and even the windows for some fresh air.
Let the Sun Shine: Open the curtains all the way, so the buyer
can see how bright and cheerful your home can be.
Warm and Appealing: Your home's lighting can be a "welcome sign"
to that prospective buyer! Turn on all your outside and inside lights
when showing your home at night. Keep your home warm prior to showings
in colder temperatures. These tips will give potential buyers a warm
inviting feeling. |
